When to Replace
- Visible oil leaks, wetness, or seepage around the valve cover perimeter.
- Low engine oil level due to a persistent leak from the valve cover area.
- During any service that requires removal of the valve cover, such as a valve adjustment.
- Hardened, brittle, or cracked original gasket discovered during inspection.
Installation Tips
- Ensure both the engine head and valve cover mating surfaces are completely clean and dry.
- Remove all traces of old gasket material, oil, and debris before installing the new gasket.
- Install the gasket dry; do not use sealant unless explicitly required by the engine service manual.
- Tighten valve cover bolts in the sequence and to the torque specifications listed in the manufacturer's service manual to prevent warping and ensure an even seal.
